Ainsley Harriott's manager confirmed that Ainsley is the new host of the BBC cooking competition show "Ready, Steady, Cook." He starts recording this month, June, and said he's very excited about taking a new role on a series that he loves. He's going to have great fun with all his old friends who work on the show.

Ainsley Harriott, host of "The Ainsley Harriott Show" returned to London in May after his show was canned by Buena Vista. Ainsley returned home to his wife, two children and their dog, Oscar.

Harriott was born in London, where he began his culinary career as a junior trainee at Verry's in the
West End, eventually graduating to commis chef. He moved to the elegant Strand Palace hotel before taking a break to tour Europe as part of a musical duo. Upon his return to England, he continued his performing
pursuits as a member of "The Calypso Twins," racking up several TV credits, a record and a prominent
position on London's New Comedy circuit.
Cooking remained his first love, and while continuing to rise in the ranks of London's top hotel chefs,
