 Remember Brother "Iz" 1959-1997 12-Jul-2004
This 750 pound "Gentle Giant" watched from a hospital bed "In Dis Life" win Best Album, Island Contemporary Album, Best Male Vocalist and Favorite Entertainer at the Na Hoku Hanohano Awards. The following month Brother Iz passed away at the young age 38 from a weight-related respiratory illness.
On June 25, 1997 the Hawaii State Flag flew at half mast in his honor. July 9, 1997 Iz was brought to the Capitol where he laid in state at the Rotunda of the State Capitol Building. Over 10,000 came to pay their respects between 5:00-10:00 p.m. Services were held at 7:30 p.m. His ashes were spread
