LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - Veteran singer-actress Barbra Streisand
announced on Wednesday that she will give four final concerts in
September -- two in Los Angeles and two in New York -- then bid
goodbye to her career as a public performer.
Streisand, 58, who has acknowledged a lifelong struggle with anxiety
over live appearances, ``has chosen to conclude her public
performance career in the two cities most closely associated with her
work,'' her manager, Martin Erlichman said in a statement.

Barbara has agreed to perform at a fundraiser for Al Gore. It will be held in Los Angeles on the night of his nomination, August 17, and is sure to be one of the hottest events of the Democratic Convention. A double ticket will cost more than £30,000 and one can only assume that the assorted movie moguls and billionaires forking out for the event believe that they will also be on the inauguration guest list - if Gore gets elected.
