 | Gerard Kelly News - Page 1 |  | Page: 1 Conversations with the Goddess 8-Nov-2001 The exhibit "Conversations with the Goddess" held from June 3 to July 8, 2001 marked a milestone in the career of sculptor, Gerard J. Kelly. The exhibit was a realization of aspects of the Goddess as interpreted by Marija Gimbutas, in stone, and bronze. Opening comments were made by Bernard Riordon, Director, and CEO of the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, Ray Mackie, Gallery Coordinator, John Greer,..International Artist,..and by Mr. Kelly.

Newfoundland Artist Sculptor Virtual Galleries 23-Dec-2000 Gerard J. Kelly Newfoundland Artist is getting married!!! The lucky Man and woman, (Sally Anne Casey) of Austrailia, will tie the knot in May, 2001! Congrates you guys!!! Sally will spend her first winter in Newfoundland this year, so we all hope that the warm hearts of the people she meets as well as the heated passion Sal, and Gerard have for each other will contribute to keeping her warm!

Newfoundland Artist Sculptor Virtual Galleries 23-Dec-2000 Newfoundland sculptor Gerard J. Kelly took part in the first Newfoundland Stone Carving Symposium this summer. The Symposium was held in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, and featured a number of international, and Canadian artist! It was held over a ten day period, and was a successful venture for all the artist and the public. Newfoundland Artist Sculptor Virtual Galleries 2-May-2000 The resent exhibit, entitled "Artefactual
Artifices", by sculptor Gerard
Kelly, was a draw for some of the
biggest art loveing crowds to
gather in a gallery for a local
exhibit in the city of Corner Brook,
Newfoundland!
The local media was in a flurry as
they interviewed and photographed the
work and artist. The sale of work was
brisk, and many smaller pieces when the
night of the opening.
The exhibit was a mix of stone carving
,wood carvngs, and ceramic pieces by
Mr. Kelly, as well as paintings, and
wood carvings by Omar Badrin, an
artist, originally from Maylasia.

Newfoundland Artist Sculptor Virtual Galleries 6-Apr-2000 Newfoundland artist, Gerard Kelly, will be taking part in the Sculpture Forum,2000, to be held in La Have , N.S. this summer.
Mr. Kelly will be one of a number of international sculptors to attend this Forum this year. Last year saw artist from Iceland, Germany, Belgium, and the USA attend, and another large showing is exspected again this year!
The Forum was set-up by INternational Artist, John Greer, as a means of Professional Developement for sculptors, in an environment that is conducice to discussion, and work!

Newfoundland Artist Sculptor Virtual Galleries 5-Apr-2000 Gerard was born in Marystown,
Newfoundland. After he finished
his studies in Fine Arts at
Bay Saint George,He
transferred to N.S.C.A.D.
(The Nova Scotia College of
Art and Design),
with one years advanced
standing. He remained on the
mainland once graduating from
N.S.C.A.D. and continued to
make art and exhibit at every
chance.He took part in solo
and group shows in Halifax,N.S.
,Saint John, and Fredericton,
N.B. During that time He also
returned home to a solo
exhibit at the LSPU Hall,
called, "Three Pieces of Art,
Three Pieces of History" as
well as the

This piece can be viewed on Gerard's Homepage! It is based on Beothuk
mythology! The beothuk and extinct race of
people, who once inhabitied the Island.
