Hawaiian ArtistsWillie K and Family Perform Edmonds At The Center for the Arts
Edmonds Center for the Arts Presents:

Kahai`ali`i Brothers The The long-awaited reunion concert featuring all five of the Kahaiali`i Brothers: Willie K. John Nakulaimaikalani, Kaulani, Wilmont Kamaunu, and Kalanikumupa`a

Saturday, November 10th, 2007 6:30 PM Only $25 per ticket Box Office: 425.275.9595 Aloha e Lea -- Nice to see you at Herb Ohta and Nathan Aweau the other night. Thanks for your interest in the concert this Saturday. Here's some quick info: I'm with a group of folks privileged to study with Cyndi Aiona's Halau Hula O Moani Mokihana in Edmonds. A few years back Kalani Kahaialii started working with our group. He grew up as one of five brothers singing and dancing the Maui hotel circuit with their dad, Manu Kahaialii. Kalani transplanted himself to the Pacific Northwest about 20 years ago; meanwhile his brothers continued their music careers, with one brother becoming especially famous (Willie K). The four remaining in Hawai'i have performed together from time to time, but we now have them all flying up to do a reunion concert. It's going to be very special to us and look forward to seeing the whole family comraderie and humor when they get together. The concert's this Saturday, Nov 10th, at 6:30pm at the Edmonds Center for the Arts. Tickets are $25 and will be available at the door or ahead of time at Hawai'i General Store or by phone from ECA at 425-275-9595. The halau will open with a short set of kahiko, followed by a chant and drumming exchange with representatives of the Duwamish people, then onto the brothers. There will be some hula, but the emphasis will be on the musicians. Hope you're able to make it, and pass on the word. We are honored that brothers have made the concert a benefit for the halau. Mahalo for your support! Let me know if there's any other info that you need. The ECA website has directions to their auditorium (a very beautifully restored Art Deco building that original housed Edmonds HIgh School). Their website is www.edmondscenterforthearts.org. -- Rick Leonard
