NOT SLACK KEY THIS YEAR Tia Carrere and Daniel Ho win Grammy for best Hawaiian music album

Breaking a four-year winning streak for slack key guitar compilation albums, the 2009 Grammy Award for best Hawaiian album went to actress and singer Tia Carrere and producer/guitarist Daniel Ho for their album "'Ikena."

Carrere, who was born and raised in the Islands but has been living in Los Angeles since 1985, was nominated last year in the Hawaiian music category. Ho, also an L.A.-based islander, has been nominated three times, and has won the award three times as a producer. This is Ho's first nomination and win as a performer.
