One in every 11 children born in Nepal dies before reaching age five. Slightly more than two in three under -five deaths occur in the first year of life-infant mortality is 64 deaths per 1,000 live births, and child mortality is 29 deaths per 1,000 live births. During infancy, the risk pf neonatal deaths (39per 1,000) is one and a half times as high as the risk of post neonatal death (26 per 1,000).
