Child Health:
One in every 11 children born in Nepal dies before reaching age five. Slightly more than two in three under -five deaths occur in the first year of life-infant mortality is 64 deaths per 1,000 live births, and child mortality is 29 deaths per 1,000 live births. During infancy, the risk pf neonatal deaths (39per 1,000) is one and a half times as high as the risk of post neonatal death (26 per 1,000). According to data collected on the 2001 ,mortality in the five years before the survey is 58% of want it was 10-14 years before the survey. Comparable data for child mortality (50%)and infant mortality (60%) indicate that the pace of decline is somewhat faster for child mortality than for infant mortality. The corresponding figures for neonatal and post neonatal mortality are 61% and 58% ,respectively. This decline in childhood mortality levels is confirmed by data from other sources. | Page:
