Usher Terry Raymond IV was born October 14, 1978 to Usher Raymond III and Jonetta Patton in Dallas, Texas. Usher's mother left his abusive father when he was just one year old and they relocated to Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Usher began singing in the church youth choir directed by his mom when he was nine years old. At the age of twelve, his talent landed him a place in a local R&B group, NuBeginnings. For his fifth album Confessions, due in January, Usher is peppering his sweet soul with something new: brutal honesty.
